Camps

Cartoon Camps

Daniel Nuckols has been cartooning ever since he was about 5. From drawing caricatures on mission trips in Guatemala and Mexico to local county fairs... or being published in Washington Post and on other platforms, his caricatures and cartoons have reached the lives of many.

Dan holds a BA from Northwestern College in Biblical Studies and a minor in Graphic Design. He is currently producing and directing films through www.NicolFilms.com. His last film “Oh Aching Soul” has been endorsed by the Benham Brothers, Eric Ludy, Stephen Kendrick, Rich Christiano, George Grant, Eric Hovind and others. It has picked up four awards and has been nominated a number of times at various film festivals around the country.

A homeschool graduate himself, Dan created a 16 lesson series on cartooning from a Christian perspective that he offers at cartooning camps.

Dan Nuckols’ incisive wit and instructive hands-on art lessons will challenge your student to see the world in a unique and humorous light and help them excel in their art. His vision is to inspire a generation of cartoonists who not only strive for excellence in their artwork, but who endeavor to reach a lost world for Christ by using their cartoons as a powerful communicative tool to spread the Gospel.

If you have a student who loves to doodle, these camps would be a great opportunity for your son or daughter to hone those skills and use them for the glory of God!

Parents are more than welcome to join their students in class.

Costs:

Tuition is $50 per student, per “camp” (a camp consists of four, 1 hour lessons).

We also have pricing breaks for larger families:

3-4 siblings attending same camp together the price is: $30 per student, per camp
5+ siblings attending the same camp together the price is: $20 per student, per camp

Besides tuition there is a one-time materials fee of $15 which covers the entire course (up to all 4 camps) and only needs to be paid once. Within the one-time materials fee each students will get a copy of Dan Nuckols cartooning textbook that they get to keep and bring home ($28 retail value).

How?:

To set up cartoon camp for your group, you will need a minimum of 10 students registered for each camp. You can do 1,2,3 or all 4 camps. Generally it works best to do one "camp" per day (a camp consists of four, 1 hour lessons). Dan offers these camps nationwide. Some groups cover lodging with a host family or hotel, and some help cover some travel costs, and some even help with meals. These considerations are appreciated in setting up a camp. International inquires are welcome.

Classroom requirements:

A large room (church classroom, library, basement, living room, etc) with enough tables and chairs for the students (preferably rectangle tables so the students can sit on one side facing the instructor as they draw). A large whiteboard is a must.

“We had a FANTASTIC Cartoon Camp!! Thanks, Dan Nuckols, for coming over from Minnesota to teach the kids! They learned a LOT and had a good time together.”

- Monica Tanner, Coordinator, South Dakota Christian Home Educators

“I would highly recommend having Dan Nuckols lead a cartooning camp at a state homeschool convention. He’s very talented and uses his talents for the Lord. He’s engaging with the children and they all seemed to be very pleased with what they were learning. My daughter has taken off in her drawing since!”

- Lori Kenney, Convention Coordinator, North Dakota Home School Association
